The Mastercard Foundation Scholars program has recently unveiled an exciting opportunity for African students pursuing master’s degrees at the University of Cambridge.
In a statement released on Saturday, the foundation highlighted the scholarship’s significance in fostering leadership skills and contributing to Africa’s sustainability.
This fully funded scholarship covers various courses, with the exception of business-related programs like the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Corporate Law (MCL), and Master of Finance (MFin).
Cambridge program offers scholarships
The University of Cambridge’s program aims to provide talented African students with comprehensive support to complete their master’s degrees, nurture transformative leadership qualities, and actively contribute to climate resilience and sustainability efforts both in Africa and globally.
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be citizens of African countries.
Those who are African nationals but currently residing outside the continent must demonstrate a temporary absence for study or work, with a clear intention to return, unless they are displaced individuals.
Applicants must also be seeking admission to a one-year master’s course at the university.
The foundation emphasizes the importance of adhering to specific application deadlines, as each course has its funding-targeted date.
As part of the application process, prospective scholars will be required to submit a supplementary statement outlining their personal commitment to advancing climate-resilient and sustainable futures for Africa.
The application deadline for funding is December 5, 2023, for courses with a corresponding deadline and January 5, 2024, for courses with a different deadline. It is crucial for applicants to meticulously review the funding deadline information while submitting their applications.
