Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo has announced the recipients of its prestigious N25 million academic research grant for the year 2023.
According to a statement released by the university, this grant, facilitated by ACU Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Dr. Olutoyin Okeowo, will support scholarly endeavors spanning agriculture, humanities, engineering, and various other disciplines.
N25 million research grants for scholars
The university expressed its commitment to fostering the discovery of novel ideas, concepts, and academic excellence through this initiative.
The fifty scholars selected for this grant have been organized into ten research groups, each dedicated to a specific area of study.
One of these research teams, led by Prof. Wahab Akanbi from the Department of Agriculture, will focus on harnessing cashew apple waste for the production of organic fertilizers and bio-pesticides.
In a separate research endeavor, Dr. Simon Okanlawon, from the Department of Architecture at ACU, will lead a team of six scholars as they explore the significance of rural architecture in sustainable agricultural settlements within Oyo State.
Another group, under the guidance of Dr. Moses Adebayo from the Department of Agriculture, will evaluate elite maize genotypes to contribute to new product development for the university’s seed company.
The research areas to be covered encompass a wide spectrum, including engineering, humanities, natural sciences, arts, communications, and media studies.
The university has confirmed that each of these ten research groups will receive a grant from the N25 million pool facilitated by the Council Chairman, Dr. Olutoyin Okeowo.
